About

Robyn Brown is one of Queensland’s most respected jazz and blues vocalists – a captivating performer whose rich, soulful tone and instinctive storytelling have earned her a reputation as one of Australia’s leading voices in the genre. Based on the Sunshine Coast, Robyn’s performances radiate warmth, authenticity, and emotional depth, drawing audiences into the heart of every song.

Deeply inspired by the jazz and blues pioneers – from Billie Holiday, Ella Fitzgerald, and Sister Rosetta Tharpe to Louis Armstrong and Lil Green – Robyn brings a modern sensitivity to timeless traditions. Her interpretations are at once reverent and refreshingly original, moving effortlessly between swing, blues, gospel, Latin, and contemporary jazz.

Whether delivering an intimate ballad or a fiery scat solo, she infuses every performance with honesty, grace, and soul.

A consummate improviser, Robyn treats each performance as a living conversation between musicians and audience. Her intuitive phrasing, creative interplay, and expressive freedom transform the familiar into something fresh and unexpected – every note shaped by the moment.

Robyn has performed extensively across Australia and Europe, appearing at major festivals and jazz clubs.  She is a sought-after collaborator who has shared the stage with many renowned Australian jazz musicians.  Her touring show Bound for Glory has played to sold-out audiences nationwide, and her independent albums have been celebrated for their artistry, soul, and respect for jazz heritage.

Robyn has curated shows exploring the roots of jazz in gospel and blues, as well as reinterpreting music from other eras. Her deep understanding of the genre’s heritage and her passion for creative interpretation make her performances both a tribute to the past and a celebration of the living, breathing art of jazz today.

Beyond the stage, Robyn is a passionate curator and producer, dedicated to nurturing the Australian jazz scene. She is the creative force behind The Jazz Sessions, Nambour Winter Jazz Fest, and Sunshine Coast Jazz & Brews Fest, initiatives that have strengthened regional jazz culture and built new audiences for the music she loves.

For Robyn Brown, jazz is more than performance – it’s storytelling, connection, and shared discovery. Her voice, smooth yet powerful, carries the joy, heartbreak, and hope of the music’s deepest roots, leaving listeners moved, inspired, and always wanting more.
